Special issues

Based on the quality of the work presented, selected papers of the workshop will be invited for consideration, in a revised and extended form, for inclusion in Special Issues.

Special Issue in Humanistic Data Mining: Tools and Applications

This Special Issue aims to bring together interdisciplinary approaches that focus on the application of innovative as well as existing humanistic data mining and knowledge discovery and management methodologies. Since humanistic data typically are dominated by semantic heterogeneity and are quite dynamic in nature, computer science researchers are obliged and encouraged to develop new suitable algorithms, tools and applications to efficiently tackle them, whereas existing ones need to be adapted to the individual special characteristics using traditional methodologies, such as decision rules, decision trees, association rules, ontologies and alignments, clustering, filtering, learning, classifier systems, neural networks, support vector machines, preprocessing, post processing, feature selection and visualization techniques. The Special Issue is devoted to the exploitation of the multiple facets of the above research fields and will explore the current related state-of-the-art.

Special Issue on the Emergence of Humanistic Digital Data in Informatics

The ever increasing amount of digital data retrieved from or related to computational tasks associated to the broad area of Humanities imposes interesting research challenges with respect to its efficient processing and analysis. The aim of this Special Issue is two-fold: to analyze digital data and extract the underlying knowledge they inherit in order to better understand the human behavior associated to the respective computational tasks with creativity, way of thinking, reasoning, learning, decision making, socializing and even biological processes; to exploit the extracted knowledge by incorporating it into intelligent systems that will support humans in their everyday activities.

Aim and topics
As a result, the proposed Special Issue aims to bring together interdisciplinary approaches focusing on the application of innovative, as well as existing, data handling, in terms of data matching & fusion, data mining, knowledge discovery & management techniques, like, for instance, but not limited to: decision rules, decision trees, association rules, ontologies and alignments, clustering, filtering, learning, classifier systems, neural networks, support vector machines, preprocessing, post processing, feature selection, visualization techniques.
